“It is my great honor to be representing the Republican Party as its Presidential Nominee. Our Party is UNITED and STRONG, and fully understands that we are running against the Worst, Most Incompetent, Corrupt, and Destructive President in the History of the United States,” said president Trump on Truth Social following his victory.
President Biden also issued a statement after winning his party’s nomination, along with posting a campaign video composed of voice clips edited together.
“Voters now have a choice to make about the future of this country. Are we going to stand up and defend our democracy or let others tear it down? Will we restore the right to choose and protect our freedoms or let extremists take them away,” said Biden.
In contrast, Trump’s campaign released a nearly four-minute video address from the president discussing his victory, and numerous problems facing the nation.
Tuesday saw primaries in Hawaii, Mississippi, Georgia, and Washington, which have resulted in both candidates receiving the required amount of delegates to become their parties’ presumptive nominees.
Trump now has 1,241 delegates, with only 1,215 required to win the Republican nomination, while Biden has surpassed his party’s 1,968 delegate requirement with 2,107 delegates.
The results were expected, as, after Nikki Haley dropped out of the race following Super Tuesday, both Trump and Biden remained the only significant candidates in their respective races.
