A Portland man pleaded guilty on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court in Portland to his role in a conspiracy to commit identity theft and bank fraud.
Throughout May and June of 2022, the 22-year-old Paul Logugune participated in a series of thefts, stealing wallets and purses from unoccupied vehicles.
According to court records, Logugune, and another unnamed criminal committed the thefts in order to take drivers licenses and checkbooks.
Longuge and the unnamed conspirator forged checks in the stolen checkbooks, making them payable to names on the stolen licenses.
They then hired an unspecified number of other conspirators to cash the stolen checks using the stolen licenses.
The press release did not reveal whether law enforcement has caught the others involved in the conspiracy.
Following his guilty plea, Logugune faces a maximum of 30 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, in addition to a maximum fine of $1 million.
He will be sentenced following an investigation report from the U.S. Probation Officer.
Identity theft. Minimum penalty needs an upgrade to what MAX is. Then make a new max. Nuff said
Found out he is a black guy why was this left out?
More than likely his picture isn’t shown because he’s brown. With a name like that I doubt he’s a Mainer from Portland although I’m willing to admit I might be wrong. No picture. We all know what that means
Unfortunately, this creep only got 2.5 years in prison, and about $32K in restitution. Should be DEPORTED when he gets out of prison, but he will be right back in Portland, living off the working taxpayers again.
