Three people are facing drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop on I-95 in Orono that resulted in the discovery of crack cocaine and multiple firearms, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, a Penobscot County deputy determined that 49-year-old Tara Culpovich of Milford violated her bail conditions by traveling in a vehicle with 48-year-old Robert Moreau.
Culpovich was recently arrested arrested for unlawful trafficking of schedule W drugs after the Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at 32 Pine Street in Milford, and was not supposed to have direct or indirect contact with Moreau under her bail conditions.
Moreau was also still wanted at the time of the traffic stop for the unlawful trafficking of schedule W drugs as a result of the same search warrant.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle southbound on I-95 in Orono.
While Culpovich initially lied about her name, the deputy determined it was Culpovich, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The operator of the vehicle was confirmed to be 40-year-old Paul Dolhancryk of Enfield, who was later found to be out of jail on seven sets of bail conditions at the time of the stop.
The investigation resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine base (crack cocaine), a Glock 9mm handgun, a .22 revolver, a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun, and other items indicative of drug trafficking.
Dolhancryk was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of schedule W drugs, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and violation of conditional release.
Culpovich and Moreau were both arrested and charged with unlawful trafficking of schedule W drugs and violation of conditional release.
A second search warrant was executed at the 32 Pine Street residence on Sunday evening, where deputies found additional items indicative of drug trafficking, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The investigation remains ongoing as of Tuesday afternoon.
