President Joe Biden should not, cannot, — must not! — step aside for some other candidate to serve as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.
As the honorable Governor of Maine Janet Mills said last night, after watching President Biden triumph over a cold and cruise to a commanding debate victory, Democracy is at stake in November, as well as common sense and civility, and “we’re not seeing that on the part of Mr. Trump tonight.”
In an interview with a seldom-read progressive blog, Mills rebuked those calling for Democrats to stage a coup and replace Biden on the ticket, ripping Republican former President Donald Trump for telling “just so many fibs.” Most of all, Mills pointed out, Maine is deeply dependent on the federal government, and Biden has been there to feed that dependency. “We cannot depend on Trump,” Mills warned.
Gov. Mills, as usual, is right: America cannot abandon President Biden. Not in this moment of peril, when Democracy is, as you may have heard, on the line. Nor should America let Deep State operatives replace him with some other liberal elite. Now more than ever, America needs Working Class Joe on the Democratic ticket.
It’s become fashionable for some liberal turncoats to say Biden needs to surrender his spot on the ticket. Even some longtime Democrats are repeating those calls, revealing themselves to be closet fascist neo-Nazi transphobic pro-forced-childbearing anti-LGBT bigots. Dumping this Commander-in-Chief would be undemocratic, regressive, and un-America. Biden received 99.1 percent of Democratic Party delegates during the primary. If un-elected political elites replace him with one of their own, just because he had a cold last night, Democracy will literally die in darkness. Do you want to be on the wrong side of history? Because that’s how you get on the wrong side of history. Democratic insiders need to accept the election, quit their election denialism, and stop this slow-motion insurrection against President Biden.
All arguments that Biden shouldn’t be the candidate are malarkey. He had a cold last night, which his press team revealed after about 45 mins, as is the usual protocol. C’mon, man! You’re going to murder democracy because the guy had a sore throat?! That kind of ableist thinking didn’t help us during COVID-19, which Biden singlehandedly defeated, and it won’t help us now. Sure, he might have been sick last night, but America is sick too, and we need that kind of empathy. Also, what appeared to be gaffes at the debate last night are totally the result of a stutter he’s had since childhood. In America, we don’t mock people for their disabilities.
Now’s not the time for America to be un-American.
Biden is uniquely empathetic with this crucial moment in American history. Who else can Democrats nominate who spent a childhood attending black churches and was arrested for marching during the Civil Rights Movement? Who among the shortlist of Democrat coup plotters has demonstrated the courage to stand up to Corn Pop, who was, need we remind you, a bad dude.
Besides, there’s every reason to believe that, behind close doors, President Biden is still whip smart and not filling his Depends a few times a day. As Mills implied in her comments last night, right-wing CNN pundits Jake Tapper and Dana Bash totally rigged the debate against Biden by granting all of the format terms and rules proposed by the White House. No one should get everything they want. MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, who definitely didn’t have anything to do with that intern who died in his office, has told us that Biden is “fit and trim” and privately, one-on-one, Biden is “the sharpest he’s ever been,” regularly outsmarting MENSA members.
If you don’t trust Scarborough, consider this: the great and notable and highly regarded scholar of American politics Prof. Amy S. Fried has argued, Biden is “the most accomplished president in the last 50 years.” Could Biden be the most accomplished U.S. President since Gerald Ford if he was actually mentally incompetent, mired in dementia, and propped up by staffers and Provigil? We think not.
This November, Democracy will be on the line, and we need to hold that line, with Joe Biden and only Joe Biden on the ticket, because not having Joe Biden facing off against Donald Trump would be un-Democratic.
We’re confident that at the second presidential debate on Sept. 10, Biden will have kicked his cold and he’ll whoop Trump—again—just like he whooped old Corn Pop.
This is so comically, but so Mills. The blind hatred they have for President Trump is so overpowering they cannot see reality. Let PedoJoe stay in the race. Can you say landslide victory ?
Dump Biden, the head of the snake known as the Democrat Party. The movement to eradicate this unconstitutional institution from power is on a roll. Who is in the Basket of Deplorables, now Dear Hillary?
,
Comically pithy…thank you.
Janet, I do not think that word “democracy” means what you think it means.
Amazing, the socialist governor telling up to keep the elder abused president in office? I can’t wait till they are both gone!
I cannot find the byline for the author of this scandalously nice piece of writing. He, She or It, is a treasure whom the Maine Wire should publish regularly.
“Democracy is at stake…” AND YOU LIED TO US along with all the other bright blub leaders leaders!
Excellent!!!!
Someone’s channeling Limbaugh. Well done!
This is proof positive that Nasty Auntie Mills cares nothing about anyone but HERSELF! Having been a stellar and dedicated foot soldier for the leftists in DC, she seems terribly afraid of losing whatever cushy job they promised her for working tirelessly to dismantle our once fine state.
Go Brandon!
Great satire!!!
Run Joe Run!!!
Bravo!! 🤣🤣
And we even are treated to a picture of Joe smelling her hair !
Priceless.
Gov Mills, you ignorant marxist, where did you go to school? Didn’t you learn someplace that the United States is NOT a democracy? My generation learned that in second grade in 1954. The United States is a “Democratic Republic”. If you read any of America’s history you would have learned that our Founders loathed the idea of a pure democracy. If America was a pure democracy several large states would elect the President and in small states like Maine our vote would be meaningless. Where does Maine keep getting these totally stupid politicians from who know absolutely nothing about our history?
It seems that a lot of people don’t understand the workings of the brain and how it processes information. Intake, processing, storage, retrieval, output are steps in that process. When one is missing, it often becomes necessary to bring in other resources to accommodate the loss of function. Processing is that step that relies on executive functions – aka analyses and decision making.
Whether impaired or not, a person who surrounds themselves with people who can store knowledge works well. If someone is slow in processing, that requires them to take more time to comprehend, digest and regurgitate the info they have. If memory is impaired, that can easily be augmented in a real world scenario by having truthful, detail oriented people around you or you may have to read your sources multiple times to get the underlying meaning and retain it. Again however, reliable people around you can deeply enhance your abilities beyond your native wisdom. In my opinion, Biden has these factors under control. The debate fatigue we saw could have been the result of a bug, or mental exhaustion, or anxiety or a lack of sleep. These are all things which can be compensated for.
So the issue we all need to be concerned about is that piece called executive functional. Can Biden, if provided with accurate and timely information, draw a conclusion and prescribe appropriate common sense action. Hell – even Trump can’t do that. But not to be too radical, if Biden had simply taken some aspirin in advance of the debate, he would have had a clearer mind since aspirin relaxes the anxiety and allows more blood to nourish his brain. It can make a big difference in anxious situations.
So take a good look at the decisions he is making and the thought process he uses to develop a course of action. How much can advisors be trusted to keep him on the right track? How much is Jill carrying of the load? Should we encourage her to take a bigger role in Joe’s work as a check on those executive function. She has the intelligence to partner with Joe and be a para-president. She could be that check and balance we are looking for. I would NOT use Kamala in such a role because she has a conflict of interest in that she becomes president if Joe appears to be failing.
For a party like the Democrats, who tout their compassion for those who are disabled or impaired, they really suck at this in not having a clue of how or why to assist him and be water wings rather than lead weights. I hate to tell folks but Biden’s issues probably exist in 25% of the elder population.
Wake up folks. Read up on cognitive challenges and how they can be modified. Maybe for this one topic you could read something relevant and apply that knowledge. Research, read, study, practice what you learn.
Two things come to mind:
Brian Kilmeade on Fox News likes to say “stay within yourself” as a toss-off, which never made a lot of sense to me, until now. It applies perfectly to Joe Biden, who often walks away from himself. Think about it. His body is one place, his mind is in another place.
I now refer to him as the “Meander In Chief.”
