As many in the Democrat establishment have descended into infighting over whether they should replace President Joe Biden as the party nominee, media personalities and left-wing political activists have united in attempts to link Former President Donald Trump to numerous political positions that he does not hold.
“With fear for our Democracy, I dissent,” said Democrat activist Mark Hamill on X, while posting a list of alleged policies from “Project 2025.”
Project 2025 is a policy agenda created by the conservative Heritage Foundation, which it claims is the product of consulting with hundreds of conservative scholars and policy experts.
“It is not enough for conservatives to win elections. If we are going to rescue the country from the grip of the radical Left, we need both a governing agenda and the right people in place, ready to carry this agenda out on day one of the next conservative administration. This is the goal of the 2025 Presidential Transition Project,” says the Project 2025 website.
Although many liberals, including the Biden campaign, have tried to link President Trump to Project 2025, Trump has released a statement distancing himself from the initiative.
“I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them,” said Trump on Truth Social.
By highlighting some of the more radical policies of Project 2025, Democrats are using it as a cudgel to validate their narrative of Trump being an extreme ruler and a threat to Democracy.
Some of these policies include an end to no-fault divorce, a complete ban on abortions and contraceptives, cuts to Medicare and social security, a ban on books about slavery, an end to same-sex marriage, and a ban on Muslims entering the country.
Trump has not supported any of those policies, and has explicitly condemned some of them.
Trump has previously supported same-sex marriage, opposed restrictions on contraceptives, opposed cuts to Medicare and Social Security, and claimed that he would not sign a bill banning abortion nationally.
He has also never come out in opposition to no-fault divorce and does not want to ban books about slavery.
The allegation that he will ban Muslim’s from entering the country is also false, and echoes a hoax from his first presidency, when many Democrats claimed that travel restrictions from some terrorist-affiliated nations constituted a ban on Muslims.
On Monday, the Republican National Convention (RNC) released its actual platform, which was reportedly influenced by Trump, and which is substantially different from the Project 2025 agenda.
The new platform includes commitments to securing the border, enacting the largest mass deportation in U.S. history, prioritizing national defense, peace, and energy infrastructure, fixing the economy, securing elections, removing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) curriculum from schools, restoring criminal justice, and defending social security and Medicare.
According to reports, it was Trump’s influence that led to the party’s softened stance on abortion, which it now wants to be left up to states.
In previous years, the RNC was allegedly working towards a national ban.
Trump also reportedly used his influence to remove the RNC’s opposition to same-sex marriage from the platform.
These changes might help bring in support from centrist or libertarian voters who are tired of Biden’s economy and disastrous record, but who do not support an end to same-sex marriage or a ban on abortion.
The changes do, however, also carry the potential to alienate more socially conservative Republicans.
When Trump says he knows nothing about Project 2025 or the organization behind it, he is simply lying. But that’s par for the course, isn’t it?
I enjoy watching the left eat their own.Biden lies every day and he doesn’t even remember from the day before. I fully support dementia Joe and VP giggles campaign.
Trump 2024
The list is garbage.
We know they will come up with something to stir and gin up their base. It makes no difference to them whether it’s true or false. What’s sad is that they can get like 50 law law enforcement people to sign a letter like they did denying Hunters laptop existence and then not face any accountability for their actions.
The libs are freaking out about Trump. They’ll do and say anything to prevent him from running or lose if he is nominated. it’s kind of fun to watch them pee their pants over him.
