Laurel, Kentucky Town Clerk, Tony Brown, addressed a viral video showing a voting machine refusing to let a voter select former President Trump and selecting Vice President Harris instead.

X user “it’s me” posted a video appearing to show her trying to select President Trump’s name on a Kentucky voting machine, while the machine refuses to select Trump and, at one point, selects Vice President Harris instead.
“I took this video, it was my vote. I tried to pick Trump 10 times, it would not work, so I began recoding and kept trying. I went to the head of the election board and will send this video to KY attorney General,” said the X user.
After the video went viral, the Kentucky Attorney General’s office sent people to investigate the allegedly faulty machine.
They tried to replicate the error and were able to replicate the machine’s refusal to select Trump’s name, but only after numerous attempts, and only when not clearly tapping on a specific candidate.
“In full disclosure, after several minutes of attempting to recreate the scenario, it did occur. This was accomplished by hitting some area in between the boxes. After that we tried for several minutes to do it again and could not,” said Brown on Facebook.
Brown explained that the machine is designed for voters to tap on the large box for each candidate, rather than the corners.
The viral video clearly shows the voter repeatedly tapping on the very edge of the Trump box, and appearing to tap off the edge of the box while refusing to try tapping closer to the main portion of the box.
Brown posted a video of the same machine operating correctly when the centers of the boxes are selected.

He explained that the machines do not directly record the votes. Instead, they mark a paper ballot, which is then counted by a separate machine.
The machine has numerous fail-safes to prevent a voter from accidentally voting for the wrong candidate.
It asks voters to review their choices twice before marking the ballot, and if the voter does not catch the errors there, they have the opportunity to receive a new ballot if theirs was incorrectly marked.
Brown claimed that the woman from the video eventually did cast her ballot to her satisfaction.
The machine in question is back in use following the investigation.
While Brown’s explanation points to user error as the cause of the machine’s failure to select Trump, it does not address the machine selecting Vice President Harris’s name when the voter does not tap near it.
Brown did not address that part of the error and provided no speculation on why it would have occurred.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
Let the democrat’s games begin !
Never seems to fail for republicans, how interesting.
Isn’t it odd that these “glitches” only happen to conservative Canidates. Yet another reason to always have a hammer.
sorry forgot to add.
“After the video went viral, the Kentucky Attorney General’s office sent people to investigate the allegedly faulty machine.”
Would they have done anything If the video didn’t go viral?

it still doesn’t explain why it picked harris instead of trump on the side, just proof dims are cheating just like in 2020 to win.
Not being able to select Trump, sounds good to me. Perhaps we could deploy this nation-wide and be rid of this bombastic idiot once and for all.
just like the Homer Simpson video
Regardless of where a voter taps the button area it should not result in the inability to vote for the candidate of your choice…nor should it select the other candidate. Think of all the elderly voters that are already challenged by the new technology of voting or parents with small children in a rush to get in and get out of the polls…each could easily get frustrated or miss this error and just move along with the ballot as is. Machines are totally unnecessary and are easy pickings for fraud and errors. A paper ballot cast with a pen and retained by each city clerk is the only way to ensure a truly safe election from that standpoint.
Now you add in all the other chaos allowed in the voting process and it’s really no wonder the majority of Americans (regardless of part affiliation) don’t have faith in the election process. I have spoken with my local city clerk quite often about the election changes here in Maine over the years and she has consistently felt the changes have made it very difficult to ensure election integrity. 40 days of early voting, mail in ballots for anyone (no longer have to be out of state day of election or physically unable), being able to vote as along as you claim “residency” (but don’t actually live here), registering to vote day of, allowing those who are mentally unfit to vote, drop boxes, no voter id, not purging the voter registration lists timely, the list goes on and on. I’d like to think in our small state with the people working the polls are generally familiar faces in our community that the integrity is at it’s utmost importance…but it’s getting harder to feel that way and nationally it near impossible to trust the process.
who made the machine?
