According to a state job board post by PCRITP earlier this month, the policy coordinator will conduct policy research, track bills deliver testimony on behalf of the Permanent Commission in the Maine legislature, and work with other state agencies on “activities and programs that reduce racial disparities.”
The job posting indicates that the policy coordinator will earn a salary of between $56,000 and $80,000 per year, in addition to the paid leave, health and dental insurance, and retirement plan benefits open to all Maine state employees.
“[PCRITP] is an independent commission within the State of Maine tasked with identifying and promoting programs that create and improve opportunities for historically disadvantaged racial, Indigenous, and tribal populations in Maine,” the job posting reads. “A key component of this work includes our statutory ability to advise and consult all three branches of Maine’s state government.”
Responsibilities of the PCRITP policy coordinator will include research and analysis on proposed legislation, budget proposals, and administrative actions to “assess potential impacts on racial disparities,” and to “track and analyze emerging policy issues at the state and national levels that may impact communities in Maine.”
