Appearing in his first interview since leaving Fox News, on Friday Tucker Carlson joined comedian and actor Russel Brand on his podcast “Stay Free with Russel Brand,” discussing Big Pharma, the Russia-Ukraine war, immigration, censorship, January 6 and Donald Trump.
The interview, which can be watched in full below, streamed live on Rumble to over 130,000 viewers.
When speaking about former President Donald Trump, Carlson said that he thinks Trump’s emergence is the “most significant thing that happened in American politics in 100 years, because he reoriented the Republican Party against the wishes of Republican leaders.”
“I’m struck by his foreign policy views. You know Trump is the only person with stature in the Republican Party really who is saying wait a second why are we sending an endless war in Ukraine,” Carlson said.
“Europe will never be the same because of this war and it really matters, and Trump alone among popular figures in both parties understands that and I’m grateful for that,” he said. “Whether he gets the nomination or gets elected, words really matter. Saying something true out loud matters, and he is saying true things about Ukraine and God bless him. That’s how I feel.”
Tucker Carlson revealed to Russel Brand that he interviewed Steven Sund, the man who was the Chief of the Capitol Police on January 6, 2021.
According to Carlson, in the interview Sund claims that the crown of rioters at the Capitol on Jan. 6 was filled with federal agents.
Carlson was fired from Fox News before his interview with Sund was aired, but he said that he will interview him again.
“The amount of lying around January 6th, and it was obvious in the tapes that I showed, is really distressing,” Carlson said. “And anyone who is covering for those lies should be ashamed of themself. And that would include almost the entire American Media, including Fox News.”
Carlson also told Brand that he hoped RFK Jr. and Trump win the nominations in the 2024 Democratic and Republican primaries respectively.

“Bobby Kennedy and Trump will both have a very tough time getting the nomination,” he said. “I’m hoping that both of them will [win] of course.”
“I’m hoping that their message will be heard,” Carlson added. “I don’t know. I don’t even know what I hope for in the process itself, but I want them to be heard. And they can now be heard. Because there are channels of information that people can tune into and listen.”
Despite weighing in on the 2024 presidential race, Carlson says in the interview that he does not consider himself a “very astute political analyst.”
“I’m not interested in politics,” he said. “I never have been interested in politics. I’m interested in ideas. I’m interested in people.”
