The U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday that President Donald Trump has been indicted for his role in encouraging his supporters to protest at the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, 2021.
The long-running investigation was led by Special Counsel Jack Smith, who examined President Trump’s effort to delay the certification of the 2020 presidential elections and eventually overturn the results.
“Despite having lost, [Trump] was determined to remain in power,” the Smith said in the indictment.
“So for more than two months following election day on November 3, 2020, the Defendant spread lies that there had been outcome-determinative fraud in the election and that he had actually won. These claims were false, and the Defendant knew that they were false,” he said.
The indictment also accuses the former president of exploiting violence in order to advance his effort to reverse the outcome of the election.
“I hear that Deranged Jack Smith, in order to interfere with the Presidential Election of 2024, will be putting out yet another Fake Indictment of your favorite President, me, at 5:00 P.M.” Trump said on his Truth Social, his social media site. “Why didn’t they do this 2.5 years ago? Why did they wait so long?”
This is the second federal indictment of the former president stemming from Smith’s investigation.
Trump has already pleaded not guilty to allegations that he improperly handled classified documents.
The new charges include Conspiracy to Defraud the United States, Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding, Obstruction of and Attempt to Obstruct an Official Proceeding, and Conspiracy Against Right.
The indictment lists six co-conspirators who were not named.

What the Biden regime and all its minions doesn’t want to acknowledge (since they are professionals at denying the existence of the mountains of evidence we are all swimming in) is that those Americans who attended the “Defend the Constitution” rally on January 6, 2021, did so to support Trump’s efforts to engage and restore the Constitution. I was among those millions. I heard what Trump said. (The Biden regime doesn’t EVER air what Trump actually said, only what they say he said.)
Trump encouraged us to walk to the Capitol to show SUPPORT to VP Mike Pence. That day, Pence was to decide whether or not to accept the evidence of 2020 voter fraud and election fraud from all over the country. He did not do so until AFTER the crowds gathered at the Capitol. By the time his decision was broadcast publicly (on the 6pm news), the “attack” on the Capitol had ended and the streets had been empty for two hours.
Why would we have marched on the Capitol to threaten, attack, and/or inflict violence on those in Congress who were debating a decision that could (and should) have been to the benefit of the nation?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. Reason and logic have no place here.
