A Peru, Maine woman has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for drug trafficking charges after selling more than 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine to an undercover police officer across multiple controlled buys.
Mandy Lynn Shorey, 43, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen to 180 months in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release, for trafficking methamphetamine and for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to court records, Shorey was involved in a series of four drug transactions between July 2022 and January 2023, during which she sold approximately 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine to an undercover officer.
For three out of those four transactions, the purity of the methamphetamine sold by Shorey to the undercover officer approached 100 percent, prosecutors said.
It was alleged that during one of the controlled buys, Shorey explained to the undercover officer that she carries a firearm with her for protection when she meets with new drug customers, and removed the firearm from a bag and placed it in her waistband.
During another drug deal, Shorey reportedly told the undercover officer that their next meeting would be safe because she would “bring one armed man to back me up that they will never see, just in case.”
When Shorey was arrested, she was in possession of a Charter Arms .22 revolver.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force.
