Just 5 percent of Americans are newly insured under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, according to a new Gallup poll published Monday.
“Five percent of Americans report being newly insured in 2014. More than half of that group, or 2.8% of the total U.S. population, say they got their new insurance through the health exchanges that were open through mid-April,” the Princeton, N.J.-based firm reported.
This data is based on interviews with more than 31,000 adults conducted between April 15 and June 17. The poll did not ask with newly insured individuals were paying for coverage, receiving subsidies, or were enrolled in Medicaid.
The total percentage of Americans without health insurance remains above 13 percent, according to Gallup.
